Job Description

The purpose of this position is to assist the Manufacturing Engineering department with limited assignments of specific manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering tasks. Emphasis will be toward design for assembly in new product introduction on the CAB area (BIW, Vehicle Front, Exterior, Interior, and Living).

Core Responsibilities
  • Serves in a training and development capacity for more complex and productive assignments
  • Assists experienced Manufacturing Engineers in implementation of product changes into the production facilities
  • Performs Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering tasks using established procedures
  • Initial phase of training and development within area of assignment
  • Proficient use of equipment, instrumentation and software/hardware used within area of assignment
  • Entry level performance issues with task-oriented, less complicated assignments
  • Miscellaneous Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering assignments as training and abilities progress

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors currently enrolled and pursuing a BS Degree in Engineering (no work experience required) at an accredited school with at least 30 semester hours prior to the start of the co-op.
  • Co-ops are required to work 40 hours per week and are NOT enrolled in academic courses during their co-op period.
  • Co-op positions require the student to be enrolled in an off-campus course in which they receive course credit or academic transcript notation from the university/college for their co-op period.
  • Student must have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Strong writing or communication skills
  • Ability to travel frequently to the manufacturing plants if needed

Expected Commitment

This internship will require up to 40 hours per week during the Fall 2021 semester.

Interns will be expected to spend as much of their time as possible working in the office. However, due to the unpredictable nature of the ongoing pandemic, the manager may approve the intern to work a portion of their time from home if required.
