POSITION TITLE: Customer Support Service Representative – Southern CA

FUNCTION/DEPARTMENT: Sales Support Department

REPORTS TO: Key Account Manager – Daniel McCausland

JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the VCES Customer Support Representative is to assist new and existing customers with all equipment and dealership matters, and to provide information and training needed to properly utilize, maintain, and repair Volvo Construction Equipment as well as all equipment types and brands represented by VCES-CA.

  • Conduct initial assessment of sold equipment for repair needs in order to proactively determine service needs.
  • Advises and assists customers with concerns related to service and parts issues.
  • Answer and assist with technical information and questions for all equipment types and brands represented by VCES-CA.
  • Helps customers solve problems by providing assistance in ordering parts, by obtaining estimates for service work, and by expediting parts orders and service work as needed.
  • Trains and familiarizes customer operators with VCES equipment.
  • Facilitate communication for equipment rentals.
  • Maintain a sound working relationship with all departments within VCES & related equipment manufacturers.
  • Conduct machine inspections for trade value estimations.
  • May deliver parts for emergency repair needs.
  • Travel as needed to jobsites and check on status of equipment.
  • Maintains a high degree of sales professionalism through self-study and through attendance at appropriate company, manufacturer and association training programs
  • Keeps alert for customer needs for new, used or rental equipment and reports promptly to Sales Manager. Advises management of any significant happenings with customers or in the territory in general.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • Must have at a minimum, a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college is highly desired.
  • Fluent in English & Spanish is preferred
Additional Important Requirements:
  • Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft products such as Excel and Word is required.
  • Strong product/industry knowledge related to various types of ground engaging equipment, including, but not limited to excavators, demolition attachments, wheel loaders, and articulated hauler trucks preferred.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and approaches customers in a tactful and respectful manner while under pressure. Accepts responsibility for own actions and follows through on commitments.
  • Works with integrity, treats customers with respect, and inspires the trust of others.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, and be able to manage frequent work hour changes, delays, and/or unexpected events.
Physical Requirements (e.g. language, mobility):
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing
  • Frequent stooping, bending, overhead reaching, lifting, pulling, caring, or pushing objects or materials, up to 25lbs.
  • Occasional lifting, pulling, or pushing objects or materials, up to 50lbs.
  • Will work in noisy, dusty areas with outdoor elements and environment.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, steps and use handrails for entering and exiting heavy equipment.
