Volvo Group Trucks Operations (GTO) is the truck industrial entity within the Volvo Group responsible for Truck manufacturing, including Cab & Vehicle Assembly, Powertrain Production, Logistics Services, Parts Distribution and Remanufacturing. Hagerstown’s group function is Powertrain Production. Powertrain production is one of the world's largest manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engines for commercial vehicles. Powertrain production provides diesel engines and transmission systems to the Volvo Group Business Areas.

Position Description

You will be challenged to innovate and to step outside the box.

The Innovation internship places an emphasis on an entrepreneurial attitude, creative, out of the box thinking, and team collaboration.

As a valued member of the Human Resources team within GTO, the student will have the opportunity to work directly with the HR team on people development functions related to the unionized manufacturing environment while viewing these traditional processes with a fresh perspective on how employees interact within this processes. GTO’s goal is to contribute to the student’s development, as well as provide an opportunity for innovation and improvements within the organization.

Position Responsibilities

  • Practical experience in developing scripts for automation
  • Ability to quantitatively and methodically handle Big Data Analytics
  • Participate in health and wellbeing initiatives
  • Assist in monitoring attendance and absenteeism
  • Improve/develop training classes on specific topics

  • Assist in HR SOPs and flow chart
  • Excellent team working and communication (verbal & written) skills

Internship Education and Program Requirements
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing degrees in business and information technology.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
