Job Description

Production Planning Manager
Coordinates production workflow for inbound, refill, day/emergency and stock orders. Plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay. Plan daily, medium and long-term operations. Analyze large volumes of complex data and perform root cause analysis. Analyze delays and interruptions and accordingly adjust production schedule to meet deadlines, Develop, standardize, implement and improve analysis tools. Assign workers and other staff to particular production operations. Daily: define quantity of trailers reqd. Medium/Long: Determine manpower, equipment and infrastructure reqd. Coordinate with managers in planning and implementing operational changes required to meet short, medium, and long-term production needs. Schedule shifts according to production needs. Communicate daily production status as well as any known production deviations to all required stakeholders. Define production calendar taking into consideration GTO, SML and HR demands. Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time within budget, Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruptions, Prepare and submit status and performance reports. Ensure employees follow respective SOP. Represent CDC (Byhalia and Columbus OH) in the S&OP meeting. Lead the organization as an inspirational leader and engage and motivate teams through challenging targets. Attract good people, focus on performance management, train and develop talent, champion the culture aimed at giving a strong image of the facility within logistics services as well as being in line with Volvo Group values and principles. Drive continuous improvement by rolling out the Volvo production system. Foster continuous improvement in the day to day operation. Participate in process development and implement best practices.

Qualified applicants must have a BS in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management and 5 years of experience in Operational Logistics in a large manufacturing environment. Experience must include analysis of large data sets, complex systems and logistics optimization including implanting lean processes in a large manufacturing, service market or logistics operation. Some experience working with international suppliers. Proven ability in data and pattern analysis to deliver insights to stakeholders at all levels and identify improvements. Continuous improvement/lean/sigma six problem solving methodology required. Occasional travel to other parts distribution centers.
