Job Summary
AnchorThe mission of the Test Driver is to perform verification and validation activities of complete trucks on test. The driver will work independently and with engineering to evaluate features, functions and physical performance of the test object. They will perform all or part of the test activities on open road, on private test tracks and within the vehicle testing area (non-event). They will work with engineering to analyze and draw conclusions about the vehicle behavior including issuing reports on faults found and pass fail criteria.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform physical testing on test objects by driving and executing test cases in support of engineering.
  • Perform ECU programming and parameter setting.
  • Install and maintain data collection, logging equipment.
  • Manage vehicle logging, data collection and capture Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) of the test object.
  • Analyze log files and captured DTCs.
  • Analyze data to support findings during test.
  • Write problem reports.
  • Maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
  • Status reporting including reporting on function/product status.
  • Create and deliver the final reports according to the task request.
Required Competencies
  • Extensive understanding of heavy duty truck and trialer systems and functions.
  • Good understanding of A/C Systems; Good understanding of AC/DC Electrical Systems
  • Needs to be able to identify what DAQ system is needed for each test within department assigned and know how the instrumentation works with the DAQ system. Should have the basic ability of troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Needs basic understanding of Protus, tech tool, EBD & KOLA.
  • Must have basic PC skills - Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Must maintain a Class A CDL.
