Located in Lexington, Tennessee, Volvo Penta’s manufacturing plant is responsible for engineering and quality, materials management, fabrication and assembly of Volvo Penta engine products in the United States.

This is a 2nd shift position.

We are now looking for a Tool Technician to join our team!!

What is the Job?
In this blue-collar role, you will be responsible for pre-setting tools, reordering broken or worn out tools, and maintaining the tool crib. You will also be assisting the supervisor in changeover of machine or cell, and making adjustment of machine/tools. Some of your core responsibilities:
  • Supporting machine tools as adjustments and changeover are required.
  • Issuing work direction to production employees when the supervisor in unavailable.
  • Maintaining tool inventory to include presetting tools; repairing, replacing, or adjusting tooling taken out of the machine.
  • Managing machine re-initialization upon tool breakage, operator cycle interruptions, power failure, and operation mis-sequencing.

Are you organized, and great with tools and machines?
To be successful in this role, you must be able to read engineering drawing and specifications, and also have the ability to follow instruction for these drawings. We would like for you to have an understanding of machine programs, as given by the engineer, and to be able to find and make changes such as tool lengths and offsets. Basic computer skills will also be necessary.

Punctuality and showing up daily makes us really happy!

In addition, excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary as is the need for strong fluency in speaking and writing English in order to communicate successfully with internal and external stakeholders at different levels of the organization.

Education & Experience
This position requires:
  • You must be a high school graduate.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ machining experience.
  • Availability and willingness to work 2nd shift

This position requires repetitive bending and lifting.
